Q: How would you describe your shooting style? 
A: Rather than stiff posing, I focus on connection, movement, and natural interaction. I may guide you toward good light or suggest simple prompts, but I want your photos to feel emotionally honest and true to your family.

I am always ready to capture both the posed and genuine, candid moments, but don’t forget, we’re in this together. So if you have a specific look you're going for, let me know. I'm not one of those photographers who doesn't let you see the unedited pics on the back of my camera during a shoot. I want to make sure you love what I am shooting! So be prepared to work with me :)

Q: What if my child doesn’t cooperate?

Children do not need to sit still or perform for the camera. Some kids are energetic, shy, emotional, curious, or constantly on the move — all of that is completely normal and welcome. My sessions are designed to leave room for play, movement, breaks, snacks, and real interaction rather than perfect behavior. Often the most meaningful photographs come from the in-between moments.

Q: What should we wear?

I recommend wearing clothing that feels comfortable, timeless, and genuinely like you. Soft textures, earthy or neutral tones, and subtle patterns tend to photograph beautifully, but the most important thing is that you feel relaxed and comfortable. I’m happy to help with outfit guidance after booking.

Q: Where do sessions take place?

I offer both in-home and outdoor sessions throughout Los Angeles and the South Bay. In-home sessions are especially meaningful for documenting everyday family life in a familiar environment, while outdoor sessions can offer movement, nature, and beautiful natural light. We can also decide based on your kid(s)’ age as that can impact how the shoot goes.

Q:  What about your other art, do you make custom illustrations?
A: Yes! I can create standalone art pieces or combine them with the photos from your shoot. If you already have photos that you would like me to doodle-ify or a holiday card that needs a personal touch, I’m game.

Q: How do I book a session with you?
A: Look into the camera of your phone/laptop/monitor, take a deep breath and yell SHANI I WOULD LIKE TO HIRE YOU!!!......A little louder, I couldn't hear you....hehe...Ok so, since that probably didn't work, you can head to the contact section and tell me what you’re looking for and ideally when you want to book.
