Nature vs. Man
Right outside my apartment complex there are trees that have uprooted the sidewalk. People who are new to this neighborhood always point out this incredible destruction. I've gotten...is this from an earthquake? road work? an accident? It's actually the trees, I say. That's how strong they are. I thought it was the perfect metaphor for nature fighting back against man-made construction (or destruction, depending on how you look at it). The immense power that these trees have is quite remarkable. It instills a hope that no matter what we do to this world, the natural and vital organisms for life will somehow find a way to remain. And then, so will we.
